Bob's World [POSTMORTEM]
Hey there! I remembered that I created Bob’s World a long time ago, and I figured I would go ahead and provide a postmortem.
Bob’s World was successful in my books, as it was just for practice and I think it turned out nicely, but I completely neglected one thing. Marketing.
I did put in some effort by making Devlogs, but due to the lack of promotion on social media and on itch.io as a whole, it ended up not going anywhere.
If you want to make a game, don’t neglect marketing. Instead, try and promote your game as soon as you have something visible. It doesn’t have to be perfect, and you can change it later, but getting your game out there is an important step that takes time. The best time to start promoting it is very early on (not too early on, remember, you want something that you can show to people!).
Once again I want to clarify that this game was successful according to my own standards, and that’s all you need! Not every game you make has to be viral or even known at all, it just has to be successful for your own standards.
That’s all, follow me if you want to see some of newer projects (it’s up to you, but I’d appreciate it)!
